Day Program - Year End Update

At the ICAN Day Program, 2018 has been a successful year with new growth and fun experiences. The clients had the opportunity through the many clubs to develop their social, work, creative, and physical activities. Socially, our clients have truly enjoyed going out in the community and creating new relationships. For Thanksgiving, the clients went around and gave out "gratitude baskets" to different businesses that they frequent. In regards to job skill development, many of the clients have now successfully passed their ServSafe Food Handler certification and have implemented their training at our Hermosa Coffee Co. Our other Marketplace initiatives have provided hands-on training for the clients to practice their customer service, money-handling, and inventory skills. Explore Club, Karaoke Club, and Cooking Club continue to be some of the clients’ favorite clubs each month. We have also implemented new clubs every month, including Candle Making Club, Transportation Club, Lawn Games Club, Sewing Club, and Disaster Awareness Club, allowing the clients to challenge themselves and have the opportunity to grow in new ways.

This year, we also experienced several transitions, Maegan Van Steenburg, moving to Mauritius and Silas Cole taking over the position. We are extremely grateful for the amazing job Maegan did during her time, and we will miss her greatly. We also said goodbye to several of our clients who transitioned or moved out of the area, but we also welcomed a handful of new clients, who immediately became a part of our ICAN family.

For 2019, we are starting off with the theme, Challenge, Change, and Celebrate! Clients and coaches alike will start the year off thinking about ways they can challenge themselves, what changes they can make to meet their goals, and celebrate a new year with many new opportunities for growth. We look forward to bringing in the new year with our amazing clients and are excited for all that awaits us in 2019.
